The Black Women In Comedy Festival was born out of rage. For decades of being left out, unseen and overlooked in the industry, we decided it was time to have something of our own. Taking place over a her-larious 4 day weekend in the fall in Brooklyn, NY, this festival will showcase some the best, brightest and funniest black women, those who identify as women, and those from the LGBTQ community. With an emphasis on all facets of comedy including stand-up, sketch, and improv. Our goal is to create the opportunity to be seen and expose bigger audiences to our talents while creating a community and safe space for black women to shine.
Last year, the BWIC Fest exceeded all of our expectations. We had sold out shows, industry reps were present and a whole lot of hugging, laughing, & networking. Coco Fresh was on TruTv Laff Tracks, Reece Cotton, Nonye Brown-West, and Franqi French just to name a few all received JFL Auditions. So we had plenty of great things happen and we have more in store for 2020!! Come join the Sisterhood of the traveling Mics!!
